Mithya, Season 2 is the latest web series streaming on Zee5 from Nov 1. The story does not seem to fulfill the viewers’ expectations this time. The first season was adapted from the British series Cheat. While the second season is the creation of the writers of the series. The story is not so convincing as it has too many baffling incidents one after the other.
The first season of Mithya was quite interesting with Juhi and Rhea, with an unknown connection, which is clarified as the story unfolds. The two turn to be step sisters. Both cannot withstand each other. Juhi( Huma Qureshi), being the softer sister, while Rhea( Avantika), the younger sister is the vengeful one.

The second season, of course, is the sequel of the first one. Juhi releases her new book Dhund, which is obviously a hit. But all of a sudden, an unknown man named Amit Chowdhury accuses Juhi of plagiarizing his manuscript. From there, the story starts with its main plot. Amit Chowdhury played by Naveen kasturia, seems to be a character who is dragged on to the story, though his performance was outstanding. As a character who is unsuccessful, sad and confused about his life, he played his part well.
The plot takes another turn when Anand Tyagi( Rajat Kapoor) commits suicide after apologising to his daughter. Out of nowhere, a series of events takes place, where at one scene we’re seeing Rhea sad about her father’s death and the next moment she is planning her next move. Avantika could not do justice to the character of Rhea. her character needed some strong and clear dialogue delivery and flawless expressions. aAvantika was unable to provide that through her weak performance. Juhi’s character as a failed mother and daughter had its own melancholy. Huma tried her best to bring the essence of void in her character, on some level, she did it as well. But, this is where the plot makes everything worse. The continuation of events was not worthwhile in any way. There was too much happening all at once. The supporting actors like Indraniel Sengupta, Rushad Rana and Krishna Singh did their part well.

The story is set on the beautiful hills of Darjeeling, on the silent and serene surrounding of the paradise. Though the cinematography and drone shots are eye-catching, it is not enough to hold the viewers’ attention for a long time. The screenplay is not setting the story on the right path. Even though most of the actors did their part well, the plot did not stand well. Director Kapil almost failed to portray the narrative in a way that can be easily grasped by the audience. Mithya, Season 1 was not the best, but obviously, the better one. The makers of the series dragged the same story of revenge with multiple events, while making viewers more puzzled than ever, However, it ends with a clear sign that there can third part of this tale which will unwind many more mysteries.
