The Netflix series IC814: The Kandahar Attack is trending from the first day itself. The story revolves around the experience of the passengers and staff in the flight. The story is based on real life incidents. The story is adopted from the book ‘IC814 Hijacked: The Inside Story’ by Anil K. Jaggia and Saurabh Shukla. It was released on August 29.
The story is based on the 7 day hijack of IC814 and the physical and mental trauma of the crew and passengers. It is said to be the longest hijack in aviation history. Vijay Verma, playing the role of the captain, did an amazing job. Other actors like Naseeruddin Shah and Pankaj Kapoor were also on point. The 6 episode series is full of nail biting events. The hijack starts from Kathmandu. There were 175 passengers in the flight. There were five hijackers in total. One was killed and many were injured. Before landing at Kandahar, the plane landed in locations like Amritsar, Lahore and Dubai. Whereas, it was supposed to land in Delhi.

The series has some sensitive scenes of killing, clotting toilets, etc. In a scene it is seen that the passengers were becoming soft with the hijackers, which refers to a psychological change when people start accepting their fate. Director Anubhav Sinha made sure to show the chronological events in a perfect blend.

The series went through a lot of controversies. It is said that the names of the hijackers were changed to Bhola and Shankar. But sources say that one of the passengers said that these were indeed their real names. It is also objected that the series shows Afghanistan as a peace giver. It is not appreciated by a lot of people. With all these controversies, people are more and more inclined towards the series. It is trending in #2 till now.
